About Us

What do we do for our Communities?

Master Gardeners respond to questions in garden centres across the Lower Mainland, on the Sunshine Coast, in Victoria, on Vancouver Island, in the Okanagan, the Thompson Shuswap and soon in Prince George.

We staff the Master Gardener Plant Information Line, write for local papers, speak to community groups throughout the Province, and are active in and support local botanical and/or display gardens.

We participate in a variety of community projects including horticultural therapy programs in hospitals & other institutions; working with students & teachers in local schools; and advising on and helping with “greening” projects in community parks & public spaces.

What do we do for our Membership?

To become a Master Gardener, our students take part in a comprehensive training program covering all the gardening basics. Advanced training is available for experienced master gardeners.

Regular Chapter meetings, a quarterly newsletter, and an annual Spring Seminar keep all members informed on the latest gardening news and expert advice.

Our members enjoy opportunities to volunteer with other gardeners in the community, participate in plant sales and exchanges, and attend workshops and garden tours.
