To become a Victoria Master Gardener, you must complete the following
- 31 session (16 week) classroom course offered by HCP
- Completion of the Basic Training Program requires a minimum mark of 80 per cent in each of the following categories:
- class attendance
- homework assignments
- an open book final exam.
- a volunteer training period supervised by the Victoria Master Gardener Association.
- Fulfillment of 60 approved volunteer hours within the 18 months following the course.
Once you have successfully completed the classroom course and your 60-hour volunteer training, you will receive your Master Gardener Certificate from the Victoria Master Gardener Association. (This is not a professional qualification.)
To maintain Master Gardener status, you must complete a minimum of 15 volunteer hours and 5 self-education hours each year.
